Who we are and what we do
The GUTcert
GUTcert's core business is the certification of management systems according to the globally recognised standards of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
We validate environmental statements in accordance with the European EMAS standard and, as an independent environmental verifier and recognised expert organisation, verify emissions reporting in accordance with EU ETS and carbon footprints in the field of sustainability audits. Extensive auditing services for greater energy efficiency expand our profile.
We pass on our experience and the extensive know-how of our auditors in the seminars and events of the GUTcert Academy (in German).

We are passionate service providers and want to inspire our customers. Expertise, friendliness, speed and flexibility are the foundation of our work.
Our customers are partners whose performance we trust. Our objective audits are designed to provide security and help us move forward. We always act with integrity and keep an eye on compliance.
Fair offers without small print are a matter of course for us in order to generate real added value for our customers.
We make no compromises when it comes to quality: We offer security, support every customer in achieving their goal and issue certificates that count for something in the market. We never rest on our laurels but constantly improve our performance.
We create a working environment and conditions for our employees that promote efficiency and enjoyment at work
As part of our testing services, we undertake to
- treat all clients equally
- take into account the interests of indirect clients and other interested parties
- to impartiality, in that we
- not allowing financial interests to influence our decisions
- not to provide, sell or offer advice on management systems or product certification
- not provide products or services of any other kind that could jeopardise the confidentiality or objectivity or impartiality of our certification process and certification decisions
- only use impartial auditors and employees who have no direct or indirect financial or material conflict of interest with the clients they audit
- to make certification decisions on the basis of objective evidence
- to take a stand against all forms of corruption and to operate a programme for the prevention and detection of corruption
With regard to direct certification activities, the GUTcert employees involved are not subject to any professional instructions and therefore cannot be influenced.
If internal or external cases become known that could jeopardise impartiality or violate contractual and other rights of GUTcert (e.g. unauthorised use of certificates, marks, etc.), the certification body shall decide on follow-up measures on a case-by-case basis, if necessary in cooperation with the Advisory Board.
This also applies in the event that potential conflicts of interest become known that affect internal or external personnel (e.g. employees, auditors) or persons associated with GUTcert. This is documented.
In 1997, the GUTcert certification company for management systems was founded - spun off and made independent from the engineering and consulting company for business organisation and environmental protection GUT (Gesellschaft für Umwelttechnik), which had existed since 1986.
By joining the AFNOR Group (Association Francaise de Normalisation) in May 2008, GUTcert gains a strong partner and grows rapidly - the number of employees triples in the following 3 years.
Thanks to numerous accreditations of GUTcert and the successful partnership with AFNOR, the international business is also significantly expanded: In association with our parent company, we offer the entire spectrum of certification services in Germany and abroad. Audits according to TS 16949 in the automotive sector or certifications for railway suppliers according to IRIS can be combined with audits according to ISO 9001, ISO 50001, ISO 14001, EMAS or BS OHSAS 18001, for example.

Meeting all requirements regarding German language regulations, diversity and linguistic fluency is a major challenge – unfortunately, it is impossible to achieve perfection in this area.
We hope that our much-discussed internal ‘GUTcert Gender Catalogue’ conveys our open attitude and appeals to all people, regardless of their gender or origin.
However, in order not to impair the flow of reading, we refrain from using gender gaps. Where possible, we use alternative terms.
